  • Mike has an AB CI in one ear and MedEl in the other.  He has found that for good music with a CI, the CI needs a high fidelity input, followed by sound processing that emulates human hearing, and the electrode frequencies must align with their anatomical placement.


    Mike's processor uses a high fidelity microphone and ADC that is followed by sound processing that emulates human hearing.  It works from 40 Hz to 24 kHz. His processor can drive all three manufacturer’s implants and is configured via a map file which defines the electrode frequencies, drive levels, and pulse widths.

    Tips for commercial processors:

    Some MedEl users find a frequency range of 100 or 110 Hz to 8500 Hz works well for them.  This varies between users.
